Professor Pierre Mayer

Pierre Mayer, partner at the Paris office of Dechert LLP, is a professor at the University of Paris-I Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he teaches private international law and arbitration law since 1984.

He practices arbitration, both as counsel and arbitrator, mainly in the fields of international trade, joint ventures and industrial cooperation, oil and gas, technology transfer and distribution, under the rules of ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL.

He is associate member of the Institut de droit international, member of the Council of the ICC Institute of World business Law and member of the Board of the Comité Français de l'Arbitrage. He is a former President of the French Committee on International Private Law, of the Committee on International Commercial Arbitration of the International Law Association and of the Committee on Private International Law of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA).

Mr. Mayer is the author of numerous articles and several books, including a treatise on Private International Law, "Droit international privé", Montchrestien (first edition 1977, in its tenth edition on collaboration with Professor Vincent Heuzé, 2010) and the 2003 General course at The Hague Academy of International Law.
