Conferences

Students are offered a choice of conferences and visits of dispute settlement organizations. The conferences are typically events related to an international organization, academic symposiums taking place in or near Geneva, or meetings of an association of legal professionals such as the Swiss Arbitration Association.

During the academic year 2008-2009, the students are planned to attend the following conferences:

• Swiss Arbitration Association conference "Managing Competition Law in International Arbitrations in Switzerland" (26 September 2008)
  
• University of St-Gallen conference "International Dispute Settlement" (2-3 October 2008)
• Swiss Arbitration Association conference "Business Disputes with Chinese Parties - A Three Rules Comparative Arbitration Scenario" (9 October 2008)
• European Grouping of Magistrates for Mediation conference "Mediation in Service of Peace" (6-7 November 2008)
• Global Arbitration Forum (3-4 December)
• Latin-American Society of International Law and South-American Association of Private International Law conference on international investment arbitration (12 December 2008)

Visits of Institutions

The institutions to be visited may be either located within Geneva (e.g. the WTO, the World Intellectual Property Organization or the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) or abroad (e.g. the International Court of Justice in The Hague or the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris).

During the academic year 2008-2009, the students are scheduled to visit the following institutions:

• ICC Court of International Arbitration (followed by a meeting day with Master students from the University of Versailles, program on arbitration and international commerce), Paris
• ICJ (International Court of Justice), PCA (Permanent Court of Arbitration) and Iran-US Claims Tribunal, The Hague
• WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), Geneva
• WTO (World Trade Organization), Geneva
• CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports), Lausanne
