Tutorials are interactions between a tutor and a group of about a dozen students, paced fortnightly. They offer the opportunity of more detailed discussions of key concepts addressed in the two general courses. During tutorials, students are expected to have researched relevant topics on the basis of a reading list and to apply that research to discussing predefined issues. These meetings are also the place for presentation and discussion among the group of written work. A minimum of two such essays is required, which play a part in the degree result. A tutor may request the production of more written work if he or she thinks it appropriate to further stimulate personal study and reflection. Certain years, additional workshops are organized in the form of a one- or two-day retreat.
