 |
Angelina Petti is a U.S. licensed attorney and is admitted into the New York State Bar. In 2006 she received a J.D., cum laude, from Hofstra University School of Law, where she was a Notes & Comments Editor for the Hofstra Law Review. Prior to law school, Angelina earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from Loyola College in Maryland. During her academic career she has been a visiting student at Monash University in Australia and the Università Degli Studi Di Firenze in Italy.
Angelina Petti has always shown an interest in alternative dispute resolution. She represented her law school in the thirteenth annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna Austria. In addition, Angelina participated in the Hofstra Mediation Clinic where she acted as an apprentice mediator for the New York State Unified Court System.
Angelina Petti is the author of "Judicial Enforcement of Arbitration Agreements: The Stay-Dismissal Dichotomy of FAA Section 3," 34 Hofstra Law Review 565 (2005), which discusses the actions taken by U.S. courts under the U.S. Federal Arbitration Act. The Article emphasizes the need to issue a stay pending arbitration, as opposed to a dismissal, as a matter of statutory construction, legislative history and public policy. In April 2007, such Article was chosen for republication in Hyderabad India by the ICFAI Journal for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
After graduating from law school Angelina Petti practiced in the international tax services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. She advised multi-national corporations, partnership and hedge funds on a variety of cross-border investments.
