"With myself included, twenty nationalities are represented in my class. In the program I meet people with diverse customs, personality and legal training. What I am learning about others is allowing me to learn more about myself and has strengthened my ability to perform in this field of practice. With this program I will obtain the skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment.

The MIDS is one of the few academic programs in this area. The curriculum of the program is both grounded in academic theory as well as practical realities. On the one hand, we engage in theoretical discussions during class and are required to write several research papers, including a master thesis at the close of the program. On the other hand, we have the chance to participate in moot courts and take part on advocacy training. Furthermore, the courses cover the whole spectrum of international dispute settlement and are not focused on one mechanism.

As a part of the program, we are kept abreast of developments in the area of international arbitration and dispute settlement. We are given access to a number of conferences and events where we are able to hear discussions made by the most respected authorities in the field. The program also entails on-site visits to many of the venues of international dispute settlement. As a student of the program I am able to benefit from the fact that Geneva is both the home of so many international institutions as well as geographically located in the center of Western Europe. This semester as a student of the MIDS, I have been able to visit the World Trade Organization and World Intellectual Property Organization, both of which are based in Geneva. In the upcoming months, we plan on visiting the International Court of Justice in The Hague as well as the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

For all of these reasons I am confident that I made the right choice in applying to the MIDS program. I know that this academic and personal experience will allow me to practice in the field of international dispute settlement and achieve my career goals."
